Review: "June" by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore
This is one of my vacation reads and I couldn’t have picked a better book. It is light enough that you can put it down and come back to it without losing the plot but interesting enough to keep the pages turning. Cassie has inherited her grandmother, June’s, huge old mansion. It has seen better days and is falling down around her, but there is no money for repairs. Added to this fact, she has broken up with her boyfriend in New York. She moves into the old house and just tries to survive. Along comes a handsome lawyer to her door to tell her she has inherited 37 million dollars from Jack Montgomery, a renowned movie star. She has no idea why her left this to her and to complicate matters, his adult children, who are legendary in their own right, are contesting the will and show up at her door for a DNA test. They embark on a quest to find out the truth about Jack and June that has many surprising twists and turns.
I was delighted with this book. The author rotates back and forth from present day to past. Both eras have intrigue and surprises that keep the story moving forward. She includes scheming in each time line that keeps you reading.
I recommend this story to anyone that loves both a good mystery and the glamour and drama of Hollywood. It can be read and enjoyed by both teens and adults. I would definitely include this for your next vacation reading enjoyment.
I requested and received this book from Blogging for Books for review.
