Review: "The Wright Brothers" by David McCullough
This is the true story of the Wright Brothers, Wilber and Orville, and their efforts to conquer the skies. It covers their lives from the years when they became enthralled with flight and built gliders at Kitty Hawk until their last flight together in a motorized plane. It is interesting and fact-filled. Although the brothers did not keep detailed records of their lives, this book does a wonderful job of filling in the background.
If you are interested in the history of flight, this is a great book to begin your journey into these fascinating brothers and their pursuit of flight. It covers their unique relationship with each other and the other members of their family. It also encompasses their relationship with others of their era who were also engrossed in the race to be the first in the skies. It is straight forward and covers their triumphs and setbacks in chronological order.
Pick this book up for yourself or someone else who is curious about the history of flight. It can be enjoyed by both young and old.
