Review: "Flight of Arrows" by Lori Benton

This is the sequel to Lori Benton’s The Wood’s Edge and it takes up where the original story left off and it is fantastic!! I enjoyed it even more than the first. All the beloved characters are back from the original, Anna Catherine, William, Reginald, Lydia, Two Hawks, Stone Thrower and Good Voice. This picks up where The Wood’s Edge left off. William has run away to join the British army in their fight against the Continentals who are aided by the Oneida tribe. Reginald is still nursing his prejudice against the Indians and refuses to even consider Anna Catherine’s marriage to Two Hawks. He is punishing himself for his past sins and can’t understand how Stone Thrower can forgive him and is pushing everyone who loves and cares for him away. Because of a promise that he made to Stone Thrower, they set off to find William in the British Army but will he shoot them as the enemy before they can reconcile?

Ms. Benton has done a wonderful job of developing this story and the characters. The story is ongoing from the first book and like that one, it is action packed and keeps you reading. The plot flows in a credible fashion and all the characters’ lives are intertwined. Not only is it full of drama and adventure, it allows you to witness each character as they grow in their faith and put that faith into action.

I highly recommend this book for readers of historical religious fiction. Ms. Benton has a wonderful knack of showing how God uses all people and all situations for His glory. This can be read and enjoyed by all ages. Although it is a sequel, it can be read alone, although reading The Wood’s Edge I will flesh out the story more fully.

I requested and received this book for review from Blogging for Books.
