Review: "Freedom's Child" by Jax Miller

This story is like a car careening down a mountain, you know there is danger at every curve and you are breathless by the end!!! Freedom Oliver is in the witness protection program. She was wrongly convicted of killing a policeman, who just happened to be her husband. She spends two years in jail, until her framing of her brother-in-law comes to fruition and she goes free. Originally, she thought she was going to prison for life and the only place for her children was with her drug dealing/using in-laws so she puts them up for adoption. Now it is 20 years later and her brother-in-law is out of jail and looking for revenge. Her son has become a successful lawyer but her daughter is struggling to escape from the cult that their home life has become. Freedom rushes to save her daughter while trying to escape her in-laws.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is fast paced with unexpected twists and turns that leave you unsure how the story will end. Freedom Oliver’s portion of the story is told in the first person allowing you to experience her emotions first hand. This allows you to feel her presence and desperation. The rest is told in the third person. This gives the unique prospective of being a part of the story but also seeing the complete picture!

If you are looking for a book that will grab your attention to the last page, this is the one for you. Once you start it, you won’t want to put it down. Just a word of caution, this book contains graphic language and some violence so it may not be for everyone, especially the young or teenage reader.
