Review: "When the Lion Feeds, (Courtney, #1)
This is the first in the Courtney family series. It covers the lives of twin brothers, Sean and Garrick Courtney until they reach 30, although it is mainly about Sean. They are born in Natal, Africa. The story is fast moving, from a war with the natives to elephant hunts in the wilds, you are never sure which way the plot will go.
At first, I had a small problem getting into the action because I was expecting something totally different. When I let go of the preconceived notions, I couldn’t put the book down. From the first chapter, the action and drama begins and doesn’t quit till the last page. Just when you think you know where the story is heading, he completely switches up the direction. The characters are larger than life and so are the adventures.
I strongly recommend this book for anyone who loves a wonderful adventure novel. I had originally bought this book for my grandson since it is a series and although there is nothing offensive and could certainly be read by him, I think the scenarios are too adult for a young teen and would not be enjoyed by them. When he is a little older, I am certainly going to introduce him to this great series. I can’t wait to read the next installment!!
