Review: "Give Us This Day" by Tom Avitabile

This novel left me breathless!!!! The storyline bursts into action from the first page and charges to the end with unexpected twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat. Newlywed Brooke Burrell-Morton is retired from top secret government service and living quietly in Hawaii coaching girls soccer. A director is needed for a short-termed, seemingly routine assignment with the Department of Treasury and she is offered the position. Because her husband is on assignment for the next six months with the Navy and missing her former life, she jumps at the opportunity for the action. Little known to anyone, the company being investigated is just the tip of a diabolic plan by terrorists to destroy New York City. Brooke must ferret out and stop them before millions of lives are lost.

I found this book thoroughly enjoyable. The plot was very intricate with many surprising developments. Just when it seemed like you had the whole scenario figured out, it turned in another direction. Mr. Avitabile’s characters, especially Brooke, are very believable. She is tough but also very human, the epitome of the modern woman. He allows you to see her softer side but doesn’t let it stop her. She is fearless and most definitely in control of her fate and the situation. The rest of the characters are also well defined and the whole tale comes together seamlessly.

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good action story. It is written concerning real issues with a believable scenario for today’s times. The author definitely knows his subject and delivers a story that barrels ahead like a train out of control!!! You will be glad you picked this up!! Kudos to the publisher, The Story Plant for delivering this great book.
