Review: "The 13th Gift" by Joanne Huist Smith

In October, the unfathomable happens to Joanne Smith. Her husband passes away unexpectedly. Now, she and her three children must figure out how to get through the first painstaking Christmas without him. This is the true story about how caring from strangers helped them get through this difficult time.

This is a very heartwarming story that I could not put down. I was just as anxious to see what each day’s present would be as the family was. Joanne is struggling to get through the day and keep her family together and cannot bear to think of the holidays. A stranger’s kindness doesn’t take away their pain, but it aids all of them by letting them know someone cares and giving them something to anticipate. It draws them together to share their grief and face the holidays together.

I highly recommend this book. It is a very moving story and can be read in a night or two. It will help to bring the holiday spirit alive and will get you thinking about little acts of kindness and how much they mean to people.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for review.
