Review: "Goodnight June" by Sarah Jio

If you liked Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio, you are gonna love Goodnight June. It has the intriguing storyline of “Winter” but I could relate closer to the events of this story. The relational situations were more personal to me and more believable.Goodnight June goes from present to past and back again thru a series of letters that Ruby, June’s aunt, has left hidden for her in her book store that June inherits upon Ruby’s death. During the revelations of the letters, June has to face some unpleasant facts from her life and finds she wants to make her Aunt Ruby proud. She begins to question how she has become the woman that she is now.Although this books is slightly predictable (at one spot in particular and you will know it when you read it) the rest of the surprises make up for this. I kept turning pages because, like June, I wanted to know what was contained in each of Aunt Ruby’s letters and how this all pertained to June.I highly recommend this book! It is a fascinating enough to keep you turning pages but light enough to be relaxing.
